New England Etching uses a process of
acid etching. The procedure is very involved and takes great skill to
complete successfully. The materials that we typically etch are aluminum,
brass, and stainless steel. The depth of the etch typically varies from
.003 to .005 of an inch. The etch can be positive having the
characters depressed, or reversed, with the characters raised.
